This course enhances students' English proficiency in professional and scientific contexts.
It develops oral and written communication skills, focusing on three major parts:

Professional Project: Deliver professional pitches, oral presentations, CVs, and workplace communication.

Scientific & Professional Topics: Engage with technical content in Manufacturing, and professional issues such as Innovations/Startups, and Workplaces.

Grammar & Language Accuracy: prepositions, active/passive voice, linking words, infinitives/gerunds, and action verbs and verbs like get, do, etc.
Through interactive activities, role-plays, presentations, and real-life scenarios, students will practice clear, fluent, and culturally appropriate speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in professional and scientific contexts.
Semester 1 consists of 20 hours of English instruction, or 10 two-hour sessions.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:

Expand sector-specific professional and scientific vocabulary

Interpret and present trends, graphs, and workplace data clearly
Class will be conducted in person. Resources will be available on SAVOIR.

1. Oral (50%) – Individual oral presentations in Class 7-8.
Present innovation/invention (5-6 minutes, individual presentation using powerpoint, followed by discussion with the class) - further info in class
Assessed on clarity, vocabulary, grammar, structure, and interaction -
2. Written Test (40%) – Grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension and writing exercise in common exam outside class on 09/01/2026
3. Participation (10%) – Active engagement in classroom activities.
Students are expected to take initiative, contribute to classroom activities, and respect classroom discipline
Note:
· Attendance: Unjustified absence will lead to marks deduction.
· Phone/Laptop Use: Using a phone or laptop without permission will result in a score of zero for class participation in that session.
