This program aims to equip students with the necessary communication skills to navigate and succeed in a global professional context.

 

After this semester, students will be able to use English as a professional tool. They will be able to:

  • Talk (and write) about oneself  ( as regards studies, professional experience, future expectations, personal interests, soft and hard skills…) / Video CVs…
  • Make scientific and professional presentations in English and interact with audience
  • Write with precision and clarity in a professional setting. This includes crafting well-structured emails, cover letters, reports, posters, and other essential documents required in the workplace.
  • Navigate cultural differences in professional settings.

After successful completion of this semester, you will be able to: 

  • Present oneself and other topics from professional life

  • Craft a compelling resume, cover letter and email

  • Anticipate and respond to commonly-asked interview questions

  •  Engage confidently in discussions and writing on professional topics.

  •   Expand vocabulary in your field of expertise for effective communication.

  • Working across cultures

Course Content

  1. Career Development:
    Write CVs and cover letters, and prepare for job interviews.
  2. Working Across Cultures:
    Understand and manage intercultural differences through role-plays, videos, and articles to navigate global work environments effectively.
  3. Professional Communication:
    Learn to write professional emails, create scientific posters, write reports, and interpret graphs and trends.
  4. Environment and Technology:
    Focus on developing listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills through topics related to environmental and technological issues.

Class will be conducted in person. Class material will be supplemented by resources available on Savoir platform, which includes video and audio resources.

Job interview (25%) – week 4-5

Written Test (Vocabulary, Cover Letter, Reading Comprehension) (25%) -  week 7

Scientific Posters (25%) – Week 8-9

Final Written Test  (25%) – week 10
